Human Living Experiment

So this is it.  A blog.  When I first started on the path of becoming a blogger, I was scared - I'm still a little scared.  LOL.  It's funny how something so trivial as putting something out there can make a person feel.  I guess it's because to the blogger, this post is something that is alive, something that comes from inside.  It's also because people can view it and post comments, either enabling your work or degrading it.  I say that's part of life.

So with the start of this new blog I've decided to do an experiment.  If you haven't already guessed I'm what people term a fitness professional.  I make my living by helping others achieve their maximum physical qualities.  Basically, I help people get in the best shape of their lives, and to be honest - I love it.

I love it when someone breaks through a set of burpees, sweat dripping off their chin, eyes far and distant from post exercise fatigue, shoulders moving in an awkward up and down fashion trying to gain the necessary leverage to extract more air into the lungs.

I love it when someone tells me, " I've lost 2 more pounds!"  And it shows.  Their smile lights up a mile away, because they're doing what they thought was impossible.   It proves to me that we humans can be noble if we just try.

And this is where I come in.  I have been, for a long point, lazy.  When it comes to getting myself in the best shape of my life - it's a different story.  I'm noticeably a pretty strong guy.  On a hammer strength bench press device I can rep out 360 pounds.  I can snatch an 80lb dumbbell in the air with little thought.  I can crush a 380lb deadlift (that was awhile ago, but why not post it?  It still counts :) ).  I'm starting to become proficient in pistol squats - one of the hardest exercises know to man (just look it up on youtube).  That's definitely a beast to conquer.

So, yes pretty strong.  I'm also fairly well conditioned - on the ARC trainer I can hit 100 resistance for close to an hour burning close to 1300 calories.  But, aside from that - my body composition is not very . . . chiseled.  And that comes mainly from diet.  For my height and weight (5.8'5 feet, 218 pounds)  I should be bringing in close to 2100 calories.  This is just for my RMR (resting metabolic rate - the rate at which my body burns during the whole course of the day if I don't do anything but sleep, eat and use the restroom).  I'll ingest though, close to 4000 calories a day.  But!  I'll burn close to an extra 1000-1200 a day.  So I'm still overeating close to 800 calories.

Obviously I need to watch what I eat.  And that's what this post is about.  I'm going to focus on dropping weight.  I know how to do, done it in the past, but again have been a little too lazy, but now I believe with a new fitness company in the works and a new blog, a call to action is warranted.  I'll be posting my results for weeks to come.  If anyone has questions let me know and, hey, spread the word.  The more comments the merrier.
